How solar PV works

Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter converts this to alternating current (AC) for use in your home. Any surplus electricity can be exported to the grid or stored in a battery for use later.

Types of installation

On-roof

On-roof

Panels mounted on an aluminium frame above existing roof tiles. Quick to install, most common for residential properties.

In-roof (integrated)

In-roof (integrated)

Panels replace a section of roof tiles using our GSE integration system. Sleek, low-profile finish — barely visible from street level.

Ground mount

Ground mount

Heavy-duty frames installed in a garden or field. Ideal where roof space is limited or orientation is poor.

Our process

Free survey

We visit your property, assess your roof, shading and energy use, and design a system sized for you.

System design

You receive a detailed proposal including panel layout, expected generation, and a clear breakdown of costs.

Installation

Our own team carries out every installation to the same high standard. We work carefully and leave your home exactly as we found it.

We commission the system, walk you through the app and monitoring, and remain available after the install.

Common questions

How long does a solar installation take?
Residential installs can be completed in as little as a single day. Larger or more complex systems will take longer — it depends on the size and scope of the works.
Do I need planning permission?
Most solar panel installations fall under permitted development rights and do not require planning permission. We will advise you if your property is an exception (e.g. listed buildings, conservation areas).
What is the difference between on-roof and in-roof?
On-roof panels sit on a frame above the existing tiles. In-roof systems (like our GSE integration) replace a section of roof tiles entirely, giving a sleek, flush finish.
Can I add battery storage later?
Yes. We design our solar systems to be battery-ready from day one, so adding storage in future is straightforward.
